The SSC Ultimate Aero is an American-built mid-engine sports car by SSC North America (formerly known as Shelby SuperCars). The higher-performance limited-production version formerly held the Guinness Book of World Records record for being the fastest production car in the world. The record is currently held by Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, since 2010 when it reached the speed of 431.072 km/h. Recently the record was reverted to the SSC Ultimate Aero but only for a week as Guinness World Records changed its mind once again regarding the testing of the Bugatti.

SSC Tuatara

The Tuatara will use a quad (four) overhead camshaft (QOHC), twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 engine that will redline at 9300 - 10000 rpm and deliver 1,350 hp (1,007 kW) and 1,280 lb•ft (1,735 N•m) on 91RON rated unleaded petrol. The car will weigh 2,645 pounds (1,200 kg) due to a carbon fiber construction (including the wheels) and aluminium crumple zones. This means it will manage a power-to-weight ratio of over 1,125 hp (839 kW) per tonne. The Tuatara accelerates from a stop to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.2 seconds and the top speed is estimated to be 276 miles per hour (444 km/h).

It only needs 3.3 seconds from naught to 100km/h and goes all way up to a top speed of 403km/h. And it is street legal.
